Religion, Socialism and Obama’s New America

It has become very clear to me that Our America, through a slow but nonetheless insidious nurturing, has been moving away from God, our Founding Father, for many years as referenced in earlier blogs, Has America Fallen from God’s Grace and The Absence of Word. Our country is at its knees because of unbridled greed. Not because of America’s people, but because of its elected leaders. We however, must pay for the sins of our fathers who are awash in the seven of the deadliest.

I am not usually one to write with fervor about God, but as of late I have been fortunate enough to have become more enlightened through a series of books (most notably The Four Agreements) and probably secretive fervent prayer from my wife.

I’m sure you have heard the question as of late on the television and radio talk shows, ‘What’s Wrong with Socialism?’. How about if we allow Vladimir Lenin to explain how ‘bothersome’ Religion and God are to the Socialist Politic (extracted from Lenin’s Collected Works referenced by the Marxists Internet Archive:

Religion must be of no concern to the state, and religious societies must have no connection with governmental authority. Everyone must be absolutely free to profess any religion he pleases, or no religion whatever, i.e., to be an atheist, which every socialist is, as a rule. Discrimination among citizens on account of their religious convictions is wholly intolerable. Even the bare mention of a citizen’s religion in official documents should unquestionably be eliminated. No subsidies should be granted to the established church nor state allowances made to ecclesiastical and religious societies. Complete separation of Church and State is what the socialist proletariat demands of the modern state and the modern church.

Religion is one of the forms of spiritual oppression which everywhere weighs down heavily upon the masses of the people…Religion is opium for the people. Religion is a sort of spiritual booze, in which the slaves of capital drown their human image, their demand for a life more or less worthy of man.

We demand complete disestablishment of the Church so as to be able to combat the religious fog with purely ideological and solely ideological weapons, by means of our press and by word of mouth. But we founded our association, the Russian Social-Democratic Labor Party, precisely for such a struggle against every religious bamboozling of the workers. And to us the ideological struggle is not a private affair, but the affair of the whole Party, of the whole proletariat. Unity in this really revolutionary struggle of the oppressed class for the creation of a paradise on earth is more important to us than unity of proletarian opinion on paradise in heaven.

We shall always preach the scientific world-outlook, and it is essential for us to combat the inconsistency of various “Christians.” The revolutionary proletariat will succeed in making religion a really private affair, so far as the state is concerned. And in this political system, cleansed of medieval mildew, the proletariat will wage a broad and open struggle for the elimination of economic slavery, the true source of the religious humbugging of mankind.

The first paragraph quite clearly illustrates America’s Separation of Church and State policy. The separation of church and state a key constitutional liberty which protects the American public from tyranny. It protects all people from the religious tyranny of any one religious group or tradition and it protects all people from a government intent on tyrannizing some or any religious groups.(1)

As Lenin goes on however, we gain further insight into his real ambition. Religion as he explains is a crutch, an affair with God that keeps the people from loving and worshiping Government. A place man goes when he needs to ‘cling to God [and Guns]‘ for comfort from life’s struggles. A place man goes for Hope. Therefore, their is no place in a Socialist government for such distractions of its people.

As the country moves away from God, it moves away from its soul, its purpose, and its destiny. This will not come without consequence. Never has, never will.

Please pass this along to family or friends who might benefit from the educational component I hope it provides.

    Debbie,

Thank you for your kind comment. Please note, however, that I did not mean this to be frightening, only informative. Your fright does not come from my words, but those of Lenin. As it should be.
