    Brian,  you have a simple and clever idea here.  There is a very powerful stream of air coming off the outside condenser unit.  Think of all the air moving around inside the air ducts too.

    extend the shaft a bit and place an alternator in the housing with a belt that runs from the main shaft to the alternator. This could be done by the manufacturer.

    sorry, but wouldnt any making use of this air make sure that the air leaves the machine slower, possibly overheating it? Also, on the inside there is probably a fan somewhere to create the air flow in the first place.. best you could do is make it a little more efficient, if you’re lucky…
